Experience Kenya Connect
Come spend time with us in Wamunyu and experience Kenya Connect through the people and relationships at the heart of our work. Alongside our Kenyan staff, students, teachers, families, and community partners, you’ll visit schools, participate in programs, exchange ideas, and learn about everyday life in the community. Each experience is shaped by our team, current priorities, and the interests and knowledge you bring. Activities may range from literacy, technology, education, and empowerment programs to time with local artisans and the Wamunyu Woodcarvers. You’ll arrive with something to share — and much to learn.

Learn Together
Spend time with Kenyan staff, educators, parents, and community leaders who know their community best. Listen to their perspectives, ask questions, and discover how local knowledge and leadership shape Kenya Connect’s work.
Share Skills with Purpose
Bring your personal interests, professional knowledge, or creative talents. Our team will identify meaningful ways for you to contribute that support current priorities and complement work already underway.

Connect with the Community
Learn about everyday life in Wamunyu through conversations, school visits, and time with local artisans. Activities may include basket weaving, traditional dance, and a visit to the Wamunyu Woodcarvers.
Rest and Reflect
Volunteers stay at Muthoki Country Lodge, about 10 minutes from campus. Set among 40 acres of trees, its cottages and glamping tents offer a comfortable place to enjoy meals, unwind, and reflect together.
Ways You Might Participate
No two experiences are exactly alike. Activities are planned with the Kenya Connect team based on current program priorities and the interests and knowledge participants bring.

Get Involved from Home
Join the Kenya Connect 5K
Run or walk with us in Maryland, participate virtually from anywhere, or volunteer on race day. However you join, you’ll help support Kenya Connect’s work while being part of a fun community event.
Create a Fundraiser
Turn something you enjoy into support for Kenya Connect. Host a dinner, organize an event, take on an athletic challenge, or create a fundraiser of your own. We’re happy to help you get started.
Host a Supply Drive
Bring your school, workplace, neighborhood, club, or community group together to collect requested books and program supplies. You can also purchase needed books directly from our Amazon wishlist.
