Jackie Crispell

Jackie Crispell has over 30 years of experience in the information systems and relational database field. After working for Westinghouse Electric Company as a database programmer, she worked for Oracle Corporation where she was an Oracle Consultant specializing in the analysis and development of relational database applications and then as an instructor in the Oracle Education Division teaching application development tools and SQL (Structured Query Language) classes. While working in Oracle Education she found her passion for teaching. Over the past 15 years, Jackie has been a part-time instructor of relational database classes for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Training Center and is currently a mathematics instructor for Towson University. Jackie graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and obtained a master’s degree in Administrative Science from Johns Hopkins University.

In June 2019, Jackie and her daughter Stephanie traveled to Wamunyu with Kenya Connect. On the trip, Jackie engaged the students in STEAM activities and discussed job careers in STEAM related fields. The students collaborated within student groups and used their problem solving and critical thinking skills to perform the tasks. Jackie returned from the trip with a new found desire to do more to help out Kenya Connect and to use her STEAM related skills to help educate and promote STEAM activities in their classrooms.

Jackie and her husband Craig and their two university aged children live in Ellicott City, Maryland. Jackie spent 16 years volunteering for her children’s school PTA Boards and organized various events for the schools including the school carnival and the Turkey Trot 5K Race. She is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Howard County where she has served as a Deacon and is currently a Sunday School teacher. Jackie enjoys volunteering in her neighborhood and community, traveling with her family and playing tennis where she volunteers as a delegate to the Baltimore Washington Interclub Tennis league.
