Dorothy Sheppard

Dorothy Sheppard was an administrator for 30 years at Johns Hopkins University. She served in various positions from Assistant Director to Director of Residential Life. The last 16 years of her career at Hopkins she was the Associate Dean of Student Life. In this capacity she supervised The Office of Residential Life, Orientation, Student Conduct, Homewood Arts Program, the Digital media department, Student Activities and Counseling and Student Health. Dorothy felt very fortunate to work with so many bright students and understood the needed resources to make students successful.

During retirement, Dorothy has started her own consulting business. She provides guidance and counseling to high school students and their families in choosing the right college. She also assists college students with finding internship opportunities. Dorothy provides elder care to her aunt who suffered a stroke in 2018. She volunteers in her community by organizing a local food drive and works at the Maryland Food Bank on a weekly basis. Dorothy is married to her husband Scott and they have two sons Kevin and Eric. Dorothy was fortunate to travel with Kenya Connect in October. Her husband, Scott and son Eric also were able to be a part of this exciting opportunity. She and her family came back from this experience wanting to do more both at home and abroad. “I look forward to finding ways to work and support Kenya Connect. What an amazing organization that gives so much on so little.”
