The LitFests at Mang’olota, Itunduni, Ngului, and Nduluku Primary Schools brought together 447 participants for joyful celebrations that highlighted creativity, confidence and shared learning. Supported by Rotary International, the LitWorld LitClub program is implemented in these schools through our Kenya Connect program mentors. The day was filled with energizing activities such as KioKit e-readers, puzzles, ball pass, and art, which sparked laughter and teamwork across all ages.
The highlight of the program were the LitClub showcases, where students demonstrated what they have learned in LitClubs which included expressive reading, storytelling and character development. Parents and teachers watched with delight, many expressing amazement at the transformation they have witnessed in their learners. Mercy, a LitClub member from Queens LitClub at Mang’olota PS, shared, “Thursdays have become my favorite day because of LitClub.” She added, “Since joining the club, I have become more confident and have improved my reading skills. I a grateful to Kenya Connect for introducing LitClub to my school.”
At Nduluku PS, parent Ruth Mulu spoke joyfully about the impact LitClub has had on her two grandchildren. She shared how their interest in reading has deepened so much that books have become a treasured part of their daily lives. She feels fortunate to witness firsthand how the club is nurturing not only academic growth but also curiosity, imagination, and other important soft skills. This year’s LitFest was a powerful reminder that when children are given space to read, create, and belong, their potential expands.
