LitMoms recently created inspiration boards that reflected their hopes and dreams for the future. They used words, images, and pictures from magazines and newspapers to create collages representing the futures they hope to build.
It was a wonderful way for the moms to share their dreams. Gladys explained, “I have a dream of doing large-scale poultry farming, and that’s why I have a photo of chickens on my inspiration board.”
Patriciah was excited to share her board. She said, “I have never ridden in a boat, and I dream of travelling and enjoying a boat ride. Do you see the lady on my board and how she is enjoying the ride? That’s me in the future!”
It was truly a day of inspiration. Our read-aloud story was The Boy Who Read Newspapers by Kenya Connect Co-Founder and Executive Director James Musyoka.
Gladys shared, “I always look forward to the LitMom sessions, especially the read-aloud story. Today I arrived a bit late, but on the way, I was rushing because I did not want to miss the story! It was a good thing I arrived before the read-aloud session. I feel very inspired and encouraged by James’ story. With my inspiration board, I will work hard, just as young James did, to achieve my dreams.”
Jacinta exclaimed, “We are so inspired and excited to hear James’ story and to learn that, as LitMoms, we are learning and benefiting from James’ dream and hard work.”
