About this program

Remember Summer Library Programs? Kenya Connect created a Reading Challenge for students at our primary schools. The goal is to read 25 books in three months and complete the colorful themed Reading Challenge Guides which are created each year by students at The Garrison Forest School. The top boy and girl readers are “crowned” the Reading King and Queen at the annual Running to Read Festival held in October. Many teachers of the Reading Challenge students observed that their writing and reading had improved as a result of the program.

“The Kenya Connect Reading motivated me to read many books not only to be recognized as a queen reader but also to improve my writing and speaking skills as well as literacy skills. I would like to encourage my fellow learners to be actively participating in the reading challenges as it would help them not only improve their writing skills but also in their literacy skills.”
