About this program
Parents in Wamunyu are committed to education and want to see their children succeed. Kenya Connect is engaging parents in various venues to discuss literacy, sexual reproducation and gender-based violence, health and nutrition information and how to have healthy relationships with their children. In addition, we work with a group of mothers through the LitMom program to engage them in a more targeted literacy program and to provide income generation programs. LitMoms are learning how to sew and making the Wings Poa Reusable Sanitary Pad kits as well as harvesting honey from their apiaries. These programs help support children staying in school and giving parents useful guidance on ways to foster relationships and learning.

“Wow! My first hands-on experience with beekeeping was incredible. I never imagined it could be this exciting! Watching the bees hard at work and harvesting honey was incredible. The best part; the income supports our table banking, allowing us to borrow and pay school fees for our children.”
