Improving attendance and getting every child ready to learn.
Current Situation
Currently there are number of reasons why children may not be attending school. This could be through sickness, lack of understanding on the importance of education or insufficiency of school fees. This focus area explores: how do we remove any barriers for a child, how do we educate the community on the importance of being in school and how do we support schools to keep their students healthy and in school. Once they are in school, how do we ensure that they are in the best state to learn. They’ll need to be healthy, able to see the board, hear the lessons and be ready to learn.
Why this Focus Area?
We truly believe that a child in school has a chance to develop a much wider range of pathways as they learn. When we have a child in school, we also have the best chance to reach them and work with them.
We Believe

Providing clean water through the installation of water tanks means that students have clean water to drink and use as part of school feeding programs.

Girls should not miss school during their periods. Providing reusable Sanitary pad kits ensures uninterrupted learning.

Empowering parents with income generation projects like beekeeping and sewing helps parents pay school fees so children are not sent home.

Washing hands prevents disease transmission and keeps learners healthy.

Keeping poop in the loop with compost toilets provides a hygienic solution to waste management while providing rich compost.

Girls will not longer miss school due to receiving Wings Poa Reusable Sanitary Pad kits and menstrual health information
Fewer students sent home for not paying school fees due to income generation projects
The adoption of compost toilet technology at partner schools
