About this program

Creating, problem solving, and playing are critical components of learning. Kenya Connect’s makerspace provides opportunities for learning and fun during Saturdays and school breaks. Filled with art supplies, games, puzzles, books and recycled materials, children come to create art, play games and learn. Most children do not have access to these materials at home or in school, which means the makerspace activities provide an important activity for the children.

“Before, I did not know how to use a hot glue gun or even cut properly using scissors. Now I know how to and I’m able to use many other supplies to create.”

Mirriam

“Attending Maker Space sessions and participating in activities has helped me learn new things that I did not know before. I also get to do something constructive when schools are closed and I can apply what I have learned at home too. When I see some of the work I have done, it makes me feel so good and confident.”
