The Kenya Connect library inspires children to read by making books a source of joy rather than an assignment. During a recent visit to Kituiu Comprehensive School, children enjoyed a read-aloud of Crunchy Munchy. The story was brought to life, and the children connected it to their own experiences.

Forty-eight new library members received their library cards and checked out books to read. The children were able to choose stories that matched their interests, which will help motivate them to read more.

Our goal is not only to provide books and help children learn to read, but also to help them discover that reading is enjoyable, sparks the imagination, and opens doors to new ideas and experiences.

Teacher Phoebe shared, “We are so happy that our learners can now access books and other reading materials from Kenya Connect. We will encourage them to read and participate in other Kenya Connect literacy programs, such as Saturday Storytime and school-break Makerspace workshops.”
